How to apply bricks in your doll house?

Bricks can be used in various ways to enhance the overall look of your doll house. They can be used to construct the exterior wall of the doll house, walks, streets, foundation, chimneys and more. Bricks add extra charm to your dream house. Doll house bricks can be classified under three heads. You can decorate your doll house with either plastic brick, clay brick or with a combination of both.

Difficulty: Easy

Here's How:

  • Plastic Brick: Plastic brick can be cut into pieces to get the desired size and shape. You can use an electric saw with a narrow blade to slice plastic brick. However, it is important to make sure that it doesn’t get too hot, else brick can melt. If you want to bend the plastic brick, leave the doll house brick in the boiling water for a longer time. After that you can turn the brick, as per your requirement or as per the size you need to cover. Various designs and shapes of bricks are available in the form of paper sheets in miniature market. These bricks can also be applied as wallpaper. These bricks are best for the kitchen floors and the firebrick inside a fireplace.
  • Common Clay Brick: Common clay bricks generally measure 12´6 inch and cover approximately 72 inches. The end of the clay bricks is notched. It is done so that another brick perfectly fits with another one. You can even cut the clay bricks to get the desired shape. These types of bricks are generally used for chimneys, foundations and walks. Always measure the area to be covered by brick so that while installation you don’t run short of the brick.

Tips:

  • Make sure that while cutting the brick with electric saw it doesn’t get too hot, otherwise it can melt.
  • Sand the edges smooth
  • To cut the brick corner use hair dyer on the area you want to cut.

What You Need:

  • Utility Knife
  • Electric saw with narrow blade
  • Hair dyer
  • Saw with X-Acto miter.
