| How to paint your doll house |
There are endless ways to paint your doll house. You can paint your doll house using bush, spray can or a sponge brush. One commonly asked question is whether or not to paint any pieces of doll house before assembly. If you want to apply a sealer or primer coat to wood pieces before assembling them that is ok, but do not try to apply wallpaper before the doll house is assembled.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: Approximately an hour.
Here's How:
- Priming and sealing: Always apply wood sealer on the walls of your doll house. Before applying wood sealer make sure that the doors and windows are removed from your doll house. The wood sealer will prevent wallpaper, paints being absorbed into the wood surface. This should be done before you start gluing the house together.
- Types of paint: Try to use semi-gloss latex or acrylic base paint for your doll house. This paint allows easy cleaning of the surfaces of the doll house. You can clean the walls of the doll house with damp clothes if painted with above mentioned paint. These paints are easily available in variety of colors.
- Choosing the color: Color scheme and combination is a real hard task for many people. Do research, look in the magazines, and consult your friends.
- Brushes: Brushes are as important as your paints are. Always prefer best quality brushes that don’t leave bristles in your finish. We recommend white artistic brushes with flat cut.
Tips:
- Always apply wood sealer as it will prevent warpage of your doll house plywood later.
- If the windows and doors cannot be removed, be sure to cover them when using a spray sealer.
- Use a semi-gloss latex or acrylic base paint for all painted surfaces in a dollhouse
- Always work with good quality brushes that won't leave bristles in your finish.
- Before you begin to paint, sand all rough areas of the raw wood.
