How to make your doll house floor look real

There are so many options to enhance or to change the overall look of your doll house floors. Doll house flooring can be done either with doll house rugs, carpets, tile floors or with wood flooring. No matter whatever is applied, it is certainly going to add charm to your doll house floors.

Difficulty: Easy

Time Required: More than two hours.

Here's How:

  • Always use those carpets, which are in scale with the thickness of your doll house.
  • Try to use upholstery velvet or patterned upholstery fabrics as they can be attached to floor with glue or double side carpet tape.
  • If you are planning to use sheet flooring, do not remove the wood blocks from its paper backing.
  • Firstly measure the length and breadth of the room or box and then cut a piece of flooring as per the measurement.
  • To seal the paper backing of the wood, iron the wood side of the flooring with a dry iron.
  • Put the flooring on the floor and press gently as you do to fix your wallpaper.
  • If you want a real wood finish, varnish the floor with two or three coats of polyurethane semi-gloss varnish.

Tips:

  • Do not use real carpet sample, as they are not in scale.
  • Do not use steam iron to seal the paper backing of the sheet flooring, stick with dry iron only.
  • Be sure to correctly measure the size and cut accordingly so that it fits perfectly.
  • Make sure that the surface to be covered is dust free and clean.
  • Apply glue on both, the surface of the floor as well as on the piece of flooring.
  • Wipe the glue away using a damp cloth. Always be careful while working with    Quick grip glue, as it can’t be wiped away with damp cloth.
